Lost passport in Korea: police, then embassy
Two steps in this order: a police loss report, then your embassy for a replacement or an emergency travel document. Here is what each needs.
Right now
- Report the loss at the nearest police station.
- Make sure you get the loss report document. Your embassy will ask for it.
- Contact your embassy or consulate to check what they need and whether you need an appointment.
Then
- The embassy issues a new passport or an emergency travel document. If you fly soon, the travel document is faster.
- Bring passport photos, the fee and any ID you still have. Requirements differ by country.
- If you hold a residence card, report the passport change to immigration within 15 days.
Keep these
- Police loss report
- Passport photos
- Copy of your passport
- Flight details
- Any remaining ID
